"For this production, it is the
director, Victoria Reinsel, who brings a bravura youthfulness to the proceedings, revealing Romeo and Juliet to be a mosh pit of colliding passions. Yet, while this is a bucking-bull ride of a production, because Reinsel is herself an actress who has displayed a master's skill with Shakespeare's verse, she keeps a tight grip on the play's Shakespearean reins...it is moments such as this that resonate so much in this Romeo and Juliet, displaying Reinsel's mature handling of the text...Reinsel brings an intimate theatricality to the proceedings, as well."

What, Lamb! What, Ladybird!

"Smith, a formidable Shakespearean actress in her own right, seamlessly juggles  multiple personas as she swings, with abundant wit and charm, from Elizabethan thespian to contemporary pedagogue and dreamer and back again. The effectiveness of her performance springs in large measure from its authenticity. For What, Lamb! What, Ladybird! is, in the end, a deeply personal play suffused with its star’s lifelong devotion to the Bard’s plays and her appreciation of their  fundamental universality. The show resonates not only because of the story Smith tells, but because of the sense you get that it is, at its core, genuinely, wholly true."
